Forgiveness

Florence Scovel Shinn · 1 min read

AFFIRMATIONS

I forgive everyone and everyone forgives me. The gates swing open for my good.

I call on the law of forgiveness. I am free from mistakes and the consequences of mistakes. I am under grace and not under karmic law.

Though my mistakes be as scarlet, I shall be washed whiter than snow.

I am under grace and not under karmic law.

What didn’t happen in the Kingdom never happened anywhere.

In brief

Forgiveness is a law, and anyone who calls on it is set free from mistakes and from what those mistakes would otherwise bring. Read the summaryHide the summary

Forgiveness is a law, and anyone who calls on it is set free from mistakes and from what those mistakes would otherwise bring. Shinn puts the teaching into four short affirmations. The first works both ways: whoever forgives everyone is forgiven by everyone, and then the gates swing open for their good. The second calls on the law of forgiveness directly and places the speaker under grace instead of karmic law. The third takes up the scriptural promise that scarlet mistakes are washed whiter than snow. The last rests everything on the Kingdom: whatever did not happen there never happened anywhere, so an error has no lasting reality and no power to hold back one's good.

Key ideas

  • Forgiveness goes both ways: forgive everyone, and everyone forgives you.
  • Shinn teaches that you call on the law of forgiveness by naming it in the spoken word.
  • Grace cancels both the mistake and its consequences. Living under grace means you are no longer under karmic law.
  • However deep the stain of past error, the spoken word washes it whiter than snow.
  • Only what happens in the Kingdom is real, so whatever did not happen there never happened anywhere.
