False Growths

Florence Scovel Shinn · 1 min read

(Correspondence—Jealousy, hatred, resentment, fear, etc., etc.)

AFFIRMATION

Every plant my Father in Heaven has not planted shall be rooted up. All false ideas in my consciousness are now obliterated. The Light of the Christ streams through every cell and I give thanks for my radiant health and happiness now and forevermore.

In brief

False growths have a mental root. Read the summaryHide the summary

False growths have a mental root. Shinn traces them to jealousy, hatred, resentment and fear, the false ideas a person carries in consciousness. Whatever the Father has not planted has no right to remain. It gives way when the word is spoken against it. Shinn gives a single affirmation for the work. It opens with the scriptural promise that every such plant shall be rooted up. Next it declares that all false ideas are obliterated now. Last, it calls the Light of the Christ into every cell and gives thanks ahead of time for radiant health and happiness.

Key ideas

  • Shinn names jealousy, hatred, resentment and fear as the hidden roots of false growths.
  • Anything the Father has not planted can be rooted up by the spoken word.
  • The affirmation clears out the false idea first, so its outer form has nothing left to feed on.
  • The Light of the Christ is called into every cell, and thanks are given for health as a present fact.
